Gnome & Faerie Brings Botanical Brewing and European Tavern Culture to SE Hawthorne

Portland, OR — Gnome & Faerie is a neighborhood botanical brewery and European-inspired tavern located at 3257 SE Hawthorne Blvd in Portland, Oregon. Founded by husband-and-wife team Shay and Eva Hosseinion, Gnome & Faerie is home to Brewed By Gnomes, an independent brewery exploring herbs, flowers, fermentation, and old-world brewing traditions through thoughtfully crafted botanical ales and seasonal beverages.

Housed inside one of Hawthorne Boulevard’s most beloved Victorian homes—built in 1891 and believed to be among the boulevard’s oldest surviving structures—Gnome & Faerie blends historic character with the warmth of a traditional European tavern. The space invites guests to slow down over beer, conversation, and simple food made for sharing.

The brewery’s beverage program celebrates fermentation and botanicals through house-brewed beer alongside rotating wines, ciders, shrubs, botanical beverages, and classic European aperitifs. Inspired by the vermouth bars of Spain and neighborhood beer halls throughout Europe, Gnome & Faerie offers a drinking experience centered on craftsmanship, hospitality, and lingering at the table.

The food menu is intentionally small, featuring carefully selected European tavern fare designed to complement the beverages rather than compete with them. Artisan cheeses, warm pretzels, marinated olives, rustic breads, kabobs, seasonal specialties, and simple desserts create an approachable menu that changes with the seasons while remaining rooted in quality ingredients and old-world traditions.
